In high-risk populations — usually due to weight, age, or medical problems — weekly ultrasounds may be recommended during the final month of pregnancy. For these patients, these quick ultrasounds are used to assess amniotic fluid and fetal movement to make sure all is well with the pregnancy.
How effective are ultrasounds?
There are no known risks. Ultrasound is a valuable tool, but it has limitations. Sound doesn’t travel well through air or bone, so ultrasound isn’t effective at imaging body parts that have gas in them or are hidden by bone, such as the lungs or head.
Is it good to see a doctor after an ultrasound?
Its good that you are being seen quickly because you dont want to carry on with the symptoms you have. Dont know about the one stop shop but after my ultrasound I was sent for an MRI scan and then couple of weeks later for a hysteroscopy without having to go back to the GP.
When to see gynaecologist after transvaginal ultrasound?
Following a transvaginal ultrasound on the weekend my GP called to tell me that she was making a ‘fast-track’ 2 week referral to the gynaecologist (they’ve now also called and I’ve got an appointment Wednesday next week).
Do you get a follow up ultrasound if you have cancer?

When the first test (or first battery of tests) have been done, you’ll be called for a follow up, and don’t be surprised if further tests are scheduled. Yes, it’s so hard not to panic and a day feels like an age. Your symptoms do sound similar and l can totally sympathise as it’s so unpleasant and draining.

When do I get my ultrasound results back?
The receptionist at my doctor’s surgery phoned to say the ultrasounds are back but I can’t see the doctor until the 8th, but she said the doctor hadn’t said it was urgent, so I think it’s safe to say it’s not OC.

I went to my doctor about a month ago because of swelling and bloating in my stomach and a very painful right leg which has been going on for at least 3 months. She examined me and found a lump in lymph node on my leg, although she suspects IBS she sent me for an ultrashound and CA125 blood test.
