Their words:

The Freedom Garden is a house. We encourage artists. We don’t encourage people to be artists.

Our words:

The Freedom Garden is a DIY venue in Bushwick, Brooklyn that is focused on the artists themselves. Adding to the pro-artist atmosphere is the fact that all shows are a $5 donation that goes directly to the artists themselves. This venue has created a niche for itself in a vital part of the new music scene by showcasing a variety of acts that simply defy genre and category altogether. From acoustic to electronic, from completely improvised sets of musicians that may have never played together before to highly composed sets by bands who have played together for years, you never know what you will find on a given night. The only certain thing is that you're in for some highly creative and original music. There is performance space both outdoors and in the basement during colder months. Shows are every Saturday night at 9, 10 and 11pm.
