Since July, 2008, the Body without Organs (BwO) has been presenting some of the most exciting and adventurous new music today. The shows, curated by drummer Mike Pride, occur on the first, third, and occasionally fifth Sunday of each month, in the back room of CoCo 66, in Greenpoint. There are two or three different performances a night; the music starts around 9:00p.m., and it’s over by midnight. The music billing tends towards avant-garde jazz, but the series equally embraces the pushing of boundaries in experimental, punk, noise, electronic, rock, and R&B music. The shows that BwO has put on within the past year have been some of the most consistently interesting and impressive. Admission is $6, which is an incredible deal for this kind of talent; and since the door money goes straight to the musicians, you’re directly supporting the artists. This is brilliant music, and we hope they keep it up. Highly recommended – check it out! Coco 66 has music most nights. The A BODY WITHOUT ORGANS SERIES is every 1st, 3rd & 5th (if applicable) Sunday of the month. Admission costs anywhere from $0-$10 (A BODY WITHOUT ORGANS SERIES CURRENTLY $6.)
