Cornelia St. Cafe

Website
Borough: West Village, Manhattan
Where: 29 Cornelia St.

Their Words: The Cornelia Street Cafe is owned and operated by founder Robin Hirsch, together with Judith Kallas and Bob Siegler. It is open seven days a week, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch--and more than three hundred cultural events a year.

Our Words: Aside from great live contemporary jazz, the Cornelia St. Cafe hosts a slew of poetry readings, literary events, art shows, and theatre performances. The owners are artists and the programming reflects their eclectic and creative tastes. The Claudia Quintet with John Hollenbeck and Chris Speed is one of the many great groups who grace the Cafe’s stage, with younger talents such as Becca Stevens and Tommy Crane also performing frequently. The upstairs is a restaurant, and the performance space is in the basement level, a small room with booth and table seating.
