Whit Dickey --drums--born May 28, 1954, studied w/ master percussionist Milford Graves as a student at Bennington College--began playing and working w/ Matthew Shipp and Rob Brown in the late eighties--became a member of the David S Ware Quartet from '92-'96--I am featured on five DSW albums--began focussing on own music in'96, which culminated in a series of well-received recordings on such labels as AUM FIDELITY and Clean Feed--began working again w/ Matt Shipp in his trio in 2007, which to this date has received singular high acclaim for a piano trio working in the outer reaches of the music as it relates to the idiom--there are three albums out w/ this trio with another one due in early 2012--continue to produce my own music w/ the collective Blood Trio, which was among the best reviewed this summer at Vision Festival with an album due out in early 2012.
