NELS CLINE

Born in Los Angeles, CA in 1956, Nels Cline is a guitarist and
composer/improvisor (and twin brother of percussionist/composer Alex
Cline) whose playing spans many years and styles. Best known these
days as the lead guitarist in the Chicago-based band Wilco, Cline can
be heard on over 150 recordings from 1978 to the present, mostly
documents of improvisation-based music, jazz, jazz/rock, etc.Current
projects include his band The Nels Cline Singers (with Scott Amendola,
Trevor Dunn), Fig (a duo project with his wife, Yuka C. Honda), BB&C
(with Tim Berne and Jim Black), Stained Radiance (a collaboration with
painter Norton Wisdom), as well as participation in groups led by
Jenny Scheinman, Ches Smith, Yoko Ono, and many others. When not on
the road, Nels divides his residences between his native Los Angeles
and New York City.
